I'm so glad we had this time together . . .

I am definitely showing my age here, because as I type I am remembering the song that completed each Carol Burnett show. It's called "I'm so glad we had this time together" and it goes like this:

I'm so glad we had this time together

Just to have a laugh or sing a song

Seems we just get started

and before you know it

Comes the time we have to say

So long

Goodnight!

After the song, Carol did this little thing where she tugged on her left ear as a message to her grandmother that she was doing well and that she loved her. It was a simple little gesture that allowed her to communicate and send love across the airwaves to someone who impacted her in ways that words can't simply express.

In addition to showing my age, I am reminiscent of what the past six years has meant to me with the opening and continued growth of BDY. We opened our first studio in January 2013 and our third (notice I didn't say last) this year in April. This little passion project has carried me through my recovery as an attorney and has brought me the greatest joys and frustrations of my life. It is harder than any other job I have ever had, and that includes manning the chicken little fryer at KFC and cleaning my dad's auto repair shop. It has also been the most rewarding. I can't say that it has ever brought me the financial success that I had as a lawyer (nor has it brought me the glorious shoes and handbags) but it has helped me realize what matters most in this life. Folks, I am here to tell you, there is so much more to this life than money, titles and trips (and shoes and handbags). Building relationships and meeting people in a way that supports our community, and our world is where it's at. My promise to you is that when you step into our studios, not only will you find great classes and teachers, but you will find a community of souls that have been through, or are going through the fire. They are tired of the stories they have told themselves about what they can and cannot do. They know that the only way out of a difficult situation is through it, and through those doors is the first step.

This month marks the last time you will see me and Rich as regularly scheduled teachers at BDY. It is time to hand over the reigns to those who have worked alongside us for the past six years to bring our dreams to fruition. Our dream was to create spaces that transform and inspire people to believe in their inherent potential. This dream has become a reality, not once. But three times. They say three times is a charm. Webster's definition of #charm is a practice or expression believed to have magic power. What YOU have built at BDY is nothing short of magical. You are the dream weavers and magic makers that turn every heartbeat and drop of sweat into reality. FACT: You have the power to change lives. You're changing yours, and as a result you will help others transform and find their magic. YOU ARE MAGIC.

As the old saying goes, this is not goodbye, it's see you later. In fact, you may even see me more than ever as I take on a new role expanding the BDY brand and mission of helping people create healthier and happier lives. If you need me, call the studio or shoot me a message here. I love your ideas and I love your energy. I can't say it enough- YOU are the WHY in BDY. Any time you find yourself searching for answers to WHY anything, wave your wand, tug on that left ear and make it happen. You've got this.
